Breast reduction

Renaissant is at the forefront of cosmetic health, using the most technically advanced techniques during breast reduction surgery, also known as reduction mammoplasty. Our team of highly experienced plastic surgeons and specialists will reduce your large or heavy breasts to enhance your physical appearance, assist with neck or back pain or correct bad posture.

Welcome to your new confidence

During our consultation process we'll help you discover the best size and shape to suit your appearance and lifestyle, providing you with honest and sound advice. During the surgery, a lollipop incision will be made and potentially a horizontal incision that follows the natural contour of the breast. Excess skin and breast tissue will be removed, to create smaller, firmer breasts and the nipple may be repositioned. The skin surrounding the nipple will then be brought together to reshape the breast. This surgical approach may also be complemented with liposuction. Your dissolvable sutures will usually be located around the nipple and in a vertical line extending downwards from the nipple to the crease of the breast and in some cases along the length of the crease under the breast.

Your surgery will be performed under general anaesthetic, with the length of procedure and stay in hospital dependent on the type of surgery. During your time in hospital you will be closely monitored by an experienced medical team who help manage pain and discomfort and ensure a smooth transition to discharge.

On discharge, you will be provided with a comprehensive plan to manage the wounds and associated pain. Some redness, swelling and bruising around the wound is normal and will eventually settle. A compression garment is required to be worn for six weeks following your surgical procedure to achieve an optimal outcome. Driving is to be avoided for the first two weeks after surgery, with heavy lifting, strenuous exercise and unnecessary strain on your wound to be avoided for six weeks. Personalised discharge information will be provided by our clinical team throughout your recovery period.

Breast Reduction is a suitable treatment for:

  • Large or heavy breasts and may positively impact the following:
    • Back or neck pain
    • Skin irritations
    • Bad posture
