Gynecomastia

Renaissant's gynaecomastia procedure can remove unwanted breast tissue, fat and skin from the male chest area. Our surgical specialists will engage with you closely to understand the cause of your condition, which may be due to hormone imbalance, weight gain, hereditary conditions or medications, and to develop an individualised approach to your procedure.

Be completely supported with genuine care and the pinnacle of surgical excellence

A combination of treatments, including surgical excision, liposuction or non-invasive Coolsculpting may be used to remove excessive breast tissue, skin and volume, treat enlarged areola and improve overall chest contour.

CoolSculpting

CoolSculpting is an innovative, non-invasive way to contour your body by freezing unwanted fat away. It works by gently and effectively delivering controlled cooling to targeted fat cells underneath the skin while leaving your skin itself unaffected. Over following weeks the treated fat cells that have crystallised (frozen) will be naturally processed by your body, leaving you more sculpted.

Liposuction

This proven body-contouring surgery can reduce stubborn fat that is unresponsive to normal weight loss efforts. Our specialist plastic surgeons are highly experienced in several liposuction techniques, including Suction Assisted Liposuction (SAL) which removes fat from the body by aspiration and Power Assisted Liposuction (PAL) which uses energy to break down fat cells allowing them to be easily removed by suction.

Surgical Excision

In cases where less invasive techniques for treatment of gynaecomastia are not appropriate, surgical excision may be indicated. Typically, a surgical excision is made horizontally across the chest removing the breast tissue and associated skin. During this process the nipple is preserved and repositioned, or alternatively a free nipple graft may be necessary.

Both liposuction and surgical excision procedures will be performed under general anaesthetic, with the length of procedure and stay in hospital dependent on the type of surgery. During your time in hospital you will be closely monitored by an experienced medical team who help manage pain and discomfort and ensure a smooth transition to discharge.

On discharge, you will be provided with a comprehensive plan to manage the wounds and associated pain. Some redness, swelling and bruising around the wound is normal and will eventually settle. A compression garment is required to be worn for six weeks following your surgical procedure to achieve an optimal outcome. Driving is to be avoided for the first two weeks after surgery, with heavy lifting, strenuous exercise and unnecessary strain on your wound to be avoided for six weeks. Personalised discharge information will be provided by our clinical team throughout your recovery period.
